Terms of Use & Licence

Risk Matrix Pro — a Power BI custom visual by TCViz · Last updated: 16 September 2026 · Applies to version 1.0.0.0 and later

By installing or using Risk Matrix Pro (the "visual") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use it.

1. What you get

TCViz grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide licence to use the visual inside Microsoft Power BI, for as long as these terms are respected. You may use it in commercial reports, in as many reports as you like, and share those reports with your colleagues and clients.

2. Free and Pro tiers

The visual is fully functional at no cost within the Free limits below. Pro is a paid licence sold through Microsoft AppSource and unlocks the remaining capabilities.

The Free tier renders a complete, usable risk matrix with no time limit and the same data limits as Pro. While a report is being edited without a licence, Pro capabilities may be shown as a preview under a "Pro preview" watermark; in reading view and published reports they are not applied without an active licence.

How the licence is checked

Entitlement is resolved through Microsoft's official IVisualLicenseManager API. TCViz runs no licence server and receives no data. If the check cannot complete, the visual falls back to the Free tier rather than failing.

3. Purchasing and refunds

Pro licences are sold, billed and supported commercially by Microsoft through AppSource. Purchases, renewals, cancellations and refunds are governed by Microsoft's Marketplace Terms of Use and handled by Microsoft, not by TCViz.

4. What you may not do

5. Your data

You keep all rights to your data. The visual processes it only in memory to render the matrix, and transmits nothing. See the Privacy Policy for detail.

6. Accuracy

The visual places each risk from the values it receives. Fractions and percentages are converted to grid levels, and values outside the scale are placed at the edge of the grid and reported as a data warning. If Power BI summarises several rows for one risk (for example a sum of likelihoods), the position reflects that summary. You are responsible for validating the data and the scoring methodology before relying on the matrix for decisions.

7. No warranty

The visual is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. TCViz does not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error free, or that it will work with every dataset or every future version of Power BI.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TCViz is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, revenue, data or business opportunity, arising from use of or inability to use the visual. Total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid for the licence in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Support

Support is provided on a best-effort basis by email at support@tcviz.com. Response times are not guaranteed under either tier.

10. Termination

This licence ends automatically if you breach these terms. It also ends if your Pro subscription lapses, at which point the visual reverts to the Free tier — your reports keep working, with Pro features switched off. You may stop using the visual at any time.

11. Changes to these terms

TCViz may update these terms. Material changes will be noted in the changelog. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
